Animal ID: D1312007Sadie (female)
This beautiful girl is Sadie! Sadie came into the local dog pound as a very sad, skinny stray puppy. Her uncaring owner found out she was at the pound but refused to come and get her. Luckily, for Sadie her foster mom took one look at this pitiful girl and fell in love! San Saba County Friends of Animals pulled her into their program and the good food, loving care and a safe environment in her foster home have allowed this girl to blossom. She is now about a year old and loving life. Her typical day includes playing with her foster siblings in the yard. She loves to playing fetch (which she is really good at) followed by a dip in the ... (Read More)baby pool, and maybe a nap in the sun. In the evening she loves to snuggle on the couch with her foster family and soak up the belly rubs. She sleeps in a crate every night and hardly ever whines or cries. She loves chew toys, peanut butter filled Kongs and anything that squeaks! There are several other dogs in Sadie's foster home. One of the dogs she spends most of her days with is another spayed female pit mix that is her age. This dog is very low-key and she and Sadie are great pals. Her other foster sibling is a large neutered male spaniel mix. They are also great buddies. We feel that she will do very well in a home with a low-key dog that is close to her own size. She can initially be pushy with smaller dogs. She is tolerant of the inside kitties in her foster home. She generally ignores them but one of them runs she is inclined to chase. She has only been around teenagers and adults in her foster home but she hasn't met a person she didn't love. New, loud things do tend to startle her so she would prefer to go to a home with adults or older kids. Sadie will need continued training and guidance through her 'teen' years to ensure she is a well adjusted, happy girl. Please contact her foster Mom, Trish Owen for a meet and greet or more information on this beautiful girl. (Less) San Saba County Friends of Animals San Saba County San Saba, TX MAP IT!

Animal ID: D1402009Daisy (female)
Daisy the Clown! That's what her foster family calls her anyway! It hasn't always been fun and carefree for this silly, funny girl. She's about a year old now but her early puppy months were full of uncertainty and rejection. She was dumped on a rural ranch in Central Texas. The rancher's wife contacted San Saba County Friends of Animals because the husband was threatening to shoot her if someone didn't come forward to get her even though Daisy had done nothing wrong. Arrangements were quickly made to meet in town to take what the rancher's wife thought was a 'Boxer mix'.. They were horrified when we told them we thought she was a Pit ... (Read More)bull Catahoula mix! 'This dog slept in the bed with our grandson' they said. We chuckled, as if the grandson was in any danger! Especially after seeing what a absolute love-bug she is. Daisy might have kissed him to death but this sweet gentle soul has never dreamed of hurting anyone! She only wants to give love and play with toys , eat a little food, splash in her baby pool and fetch a ball and curl up at your feet every night. She can't understand why she's had a hard time finding a family who wants a low-key, (gets along with dogs, cats and especially people) goofy, eager to please, here for a good time girl. We keep telling her the right family for her just hasn't found her yet! She is so deserving, so wonderful, the perfect family just has to be arriving any time now! She asked us to please tell her future family that she loves other dogs, is fine with cats, loves to play with kids and she especially LOVES water! She also likes chew toys, playing fetch and peanut butter filled Kongs. She has had all her vaccinations, is on monthly heartworm preventative and is already spayed! All she needs now is YOU! Animal ID: D1309007Taylor (female)
This special girl is Taylor. She is extremely intelligent and very sweet. We rescued her in August of 2013 from a family who had way too many dogs and were required by local law enforcement to surrender most of them. When she first came to us, Taylor was not well socialized. She was extremely wary and would not approach anyone. Over time, she has come to trust us and is now very comfortable with her caregivers, always wanting attention, petting and bellyrubs. Taylor knows basic commands. She loves to play fetch, romp with her fellow foster dogs in the yard, and learn new commands for treats. She is crate-trained and very nearly ... (Read More)housebroken. We are working with her on leash-walking and getting her accustomed to being around strangers. Taylor will need a very patient adopter who will work to earn her trust, but once that happens, she will be a devoted companion to some lucky person. If you are that person and would like to meet this sweet girl, please contact us. If you live within a half-day's drive of our area, we can arrange to bring Taylor to a mid-way point for a meet and greet. Animal ID: D1402007Annie (female)
Meet Annie -- a real sweetheart of a dog! We rescued her from the city pound on Valentine's Day of this year. Annie came to us heartworm-positive; however, she has completed her treatment and is now a happy, healthy, active girl. She is completely housebroken and behaves very nicely inside, although she likes to spend time outdoors as well. Annie loves to take long leash walks, and she rides calmly in the car. With proper introduction, she does well with most other dogs (her favorites are submissive males). If you are looking for a sweet, low-key, friendly big dog to add to your family, please contact us about Annie. And if you live ... Animal ID: D1407002Heidi (female)
Meet Heidi! Heidi is a very sweet girl who spent a couple of days touring our small city of San Saba as a stray, making friends everywhere she went. We rescued her from the pound and have had her in foster care since early July, 2014. She has been spayed, is current on all vaccinations and has tested negative for heartworms. Heidi gets along wonderfully well with our other foster dogs and puppies, and she is as friendly as can be to everyone who visits with her. She has changed many minds about the behavior and personality of pit bulls. If you are interested in arranging a 'meet and greet' with Heidi, please contact us. Not in our ... Animal ID: D1302002Riley (male)
Meet Riley! Riley is young adult Spaniel mix. He has soft brown eyes and a curly coat. He weighs about 65 pounds. Riley loves belly rubs, rawhide chews and the company of most other dogs. He would really prefer the company of female dogs or low-key submissive male dogs. When taken on walks, he does well on a leash. He's also great with kids. Riley is a very smart boy and is eager to please. He loves being outdoors for play time but, with some training, would make a great indoor companion, too. He's been neutered, vaccinated and is on heartworm preventive. If you are looking for a forever family pet, please consider this loveable, happy boy! ...
